How to Use Facebook's New Emoji Reactions

    Remember all the controversy about the potential dislike button on Facebook? After all, a thumbs up is how we always want to respond to a post. Well, it’s here….except that it’s not exactly what people were thinking it’d be.

    Recognize the emoji icons above? Yes! They are recently the “upgraded” version of Facebook’s like button. Instead of a dislike button, we get these array of cute six emojis! We can now express faster and easier and convey more correctly what we really feel on a certain post through these six emojis. After all, “like” is too limiting. Right?

Introducing Facebook’s New Emoji Reactions

    Starting from left up to the right, we can see the good-old thumbs up icon for Like. Commonly used when we see something that we regard in a good or positive way. Next is the familiar shape of Love. Videos of cute animals such as dogs and cats are worth heart-ing for! What about coming across a post that gave us a good laugh? Then Ha-ha, the smiling face with an open mouth and tightly closed eyes are perfect for it!

    Caught off-guard? Surprised? Or maybe, amazed? Then Wow is for you! The crying face, Sad and the scowling one, Angry is for posts that makes you sad or angry.

Facebook’s New Emoji Reactions on the Web

    To make this new function work on a web browser, just hover over the “Like” link and do not click, the emojis will just pop-up and when that happens, you can choose by clicking the emoji that you want and that will best suit the post.

Once clicked, your “reaction” will be registered and shown automatically along with others’ on tiny little emoji reactions icons as responses just below the post.

    Unlike on a web browser, to bring up the emoji reactions when using Facebook on your iPhone, you need to tap the like button and hold it for a moment.

 
 

And, voilà! The emojis will be shown. You can now choose your desired emoji and that which will best suit the post by tapping on it. Once tapped, your “reaction” will be registered and shown automatically along with others’ on tiny little emoji reactions icons as responses just below the post.
